The Manimahesh Kailash Yatra is one of the most revered pilgrimages in India, dedicated to Lord Shiva. Every year, thousands of devotees undertake this sacred journey to Manimahesh Lake, situated at an altitude of 4,080 meters in the Bharmour region of Himachal Pradesh. The lake is believed to be the abode of Manimahesh Kailash, also known as Chamba Kailash, a sacred peak that stands at 5,653 meters.
If you’re planning to embark on the Manimahesh Yatra in 2025, here’s everything you need to know about the opening dates, pilgrimage rituals, and travel guidelines.
The Manimahesh Yatra traditionally begins on Janmashtami and concludes on Radha Ashtami, following the Hindu lunar calendar. These dates may vary slightly based on lunar calculations and official announcements by the local administration.

The reflection of the Kailash peak in the lake is a divine sight, and many pilgrims undertake the challenging trek to seek Lord Shiva’s blessings.
